Answer the following questions using 1-2 complete sentences:
1. What is the claim or purpose of the test?
The claim or purpose of the test is to find out if you have a pathological way of thinking. By giving the test to people who are a threat to society, there is the ability to separate the psychopaths or potential serial killers.
2. What other explanations are there for getting the "correct" answer?
One explanation for getting the "correct" answer would be making a lucky guess. Another explanation would be taking a considerable amount of time to think about the question. The more you think about it, the closer you will probably get to answering it correctly.
3. Even if the claim is true that almost all serial killers had the "correct" answer does that mean that people in the general public with the "correct" answer are psychopaths? Explain why or why not.
In some cases, people in the general public could have answered it correctly and may potentially be a psychopath. Although, I wouldn't consider every one who answered the question correct to be a serial killer. I would suggest doing a lot more testing than one psychological test to brand someone with the label of "psychopathic."
4. Give at least two other reasons that explain why this is a bad or good psychological test.
I'm not really sure what makes a "good" psychological test. Although, if the results of the test has can separate a psychopath from a normal person I would consider it to be legit. On the contrary, I would have to believe that a very good psychological test would possibly be a bit more thorough.
5. All things considered, can we use this test to predict who is or will be a killer and prevent murder from happening? Explain your answer.
I believe that we could potentially use this test to determine who is or will be a killer. Although, I do not think it should be the only factor in researching is someone is a psychopath. The fact that most psychopathic people answered the question correctly is enough to make me believe that further testing should be done.
